The website on ASUDEV was initially launched as http://www.artofasudev.org on the life and time of (Late) ASUDEV a pioneer artist of North- East India on 30 June 2006 at 18.00 hrs, in a get-together of noted artists, friends, students, well wishers and distinguished media person at the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati Assam INDIA.

The gathering of artists, students & well wishers were welcomed by Mr. Goutam Sharma, Secretary Kalakshetra. Mr. Atulanada Goswami, Educationist, Mr. Hiren Bhattacharjee, Poet, Mr. Sobha Brahma, Artist, Mr. Neelpawan Baruah , Artist, Dr. P. Mahanta and Mr.Noni Borpujari Artist were present at the launch of the website.

Addressing the gathering Mr. Anutosh Deb, highlighted the idea of bringing out the website. An audiovisual presentation took the guests down memory lane, with clips of the Paintings of ASUDEV and photographs from the artist’s album.

ASUDEV was born on 13 December 1917 at Dhubri in Lower Assam, INDIA. A self taught artist with little or no patronage from any source, he began his journey in artistic pursuit during the 1930’s and continued with the same zeal and enthusiasm till the last day of his life. ASUDEV created about 180 paintings and sculptures. He expired on 06 February 1983 at Guwahati Assam INDIA.

The website contains the details of the artist, his life and time and reflects most of his works. Six very important write-ups over a span of three decades, highlights ASUDEV’s style of work and his artistic progress written by people who had seen the artist very closely form an important segment of the website.

The website will take the viewer through his paintings and sculptures chronologically, all reviews and newspaper clippings, important letters and rare photographs from the family album.

The website would certainly be a resource material for students of Art and Art History apart from admirers of the artist.
