Seemanta Bhagawati belongs to a middle class family from Mangaldoi, Assam and a student of visual art, presently pursuing his study in Master of Visual Arts final year, Printmaking Department Kala Bhabana, Visva Bharati, Santiniketan.

In the words of Seemanta Bhagawati  – “In this field we need lots of assets like art materials, books, electronic devices etc… as you know we should travel one place to another place to search something… to explore something… to build up a strong vision and developed an idea… it is very important aspect as far as I feel.. But we always compromise with this things, we can’t effort all this things. Therefore I missed some experiences which I need. Nowa days it is very expensive to survive in this practical based field. I can plan for a design to experiment something with the help of different media in this contemporary art practice but it is unable to do because of poor financial condition. Already I studying out of Assam and every time need money a financial assistance. That is way I have to struggle to survive in this field.

This scholarship is a big opportunity and a support for us initiated by the ‘Asudev Art Foundation’ giving out the ‘Asudev Art Scholarship’ and I am really happy to to be awarded the first Asudev Art Scholarship -2017
